Walter aims to create sculptural pieces that invoke a sense of life at its essence. These works are created to encourage a viewer to question or pause, leading them to wonder about each sculpture’s existence: whether the form each takes might actually exist in living form (in some way) or even if it might move or come alive through its own fantastical volition.

With a joy for working with a wide and diverse range of materials - mostly recycled - Walter has a love for the challenges each creates, with adaptation and problem-solving manifesting differently for each individual work (or as he likes to think of it: a process of constantly re-inventing the wheel).

In order to create the elements of each finished piece, Walter harnesses this drive to problem-solve when improving and exploring a variety of techniques, approaches and methods to push the materials far beyond their general associations.

Walter’s work has influences from the natural world, whether plant or animal (or other): cell-based to the beginnings of life as we know it. Walter is constantly exploring form, touch, movement and sound, attempting to give often inorganic materials an organic essence.
